“I started snowboarding at a young age. Back then all I wanted to do was to snowboard with my friends and just fool around. Then I started doing contests and that’s all I wanted to do. I did that for a few years and got over it. I wasn’t as pumped on snowboarding as I was when I started. Four years ago Tor, Diggles, and I started our show BYNDXMDLS and right away I had so much more fun while snowboarding again. We went to cool places and filmed and there was no contest pressure. Just a bunch of homies cruising around filming like it used to be when we were younger but on a different level. I’m so stoked we got this going and now again all I want to do is go snowboarding.”

A Q&A With Kevin Backstrom

What about the products are you most psyched on and how do they help you?

I’m really stoked on the Amazify frames, they look really simple and badass at the same time. It’s a perfect combination!

What's the perfect day of shredding to you?

Waking up in the Alps to a bluebird day with fresh pow. Wouldn’t be a perfect day without the homies, so you gotta wake them up too. After a long day of sprays and tomahawks it’s a good idea to hit the bar for a “few” beers and then repeat.

Gnarliest or scariest experience riding?

Last year we did some heliboarding in Russia. It was my first time, first run and I was scared as fu**.

Gnarliest or scariest experience riding?

You couldn’t really see what was coming at you and I didn’t remember my line 100% after checking it from the heli. I made my way down and it felt way more extreme then what it looked like on the camera haha. Didn’t make it into my part of course… The second run went better but the Russian heli almost crashed while Diggles and Dasha were in it filming me hitting this windlip. Crazy shit but a trip for the books!

Favorite place to ride?

Laax in Switzerland! Amazing terrain for backcountry, perfect park, dope slopes that you can cruise and carve forever. It’s super easy to get there as well which is a bonus!
