The all-mountain shredder helmet.
The HALF BRAIN has now been upgraded with Slytech 2nd Skin Inside. The shape and style is 100% athlete and rider inspired and tested, but with the Slytech overhaul by engineers it’s become even more comfortable and safe. Designed with Shred’s progressive edgy style, it also features our newest SHREDVent system, that allows optimal ventilation of the goggle-helmet system, reducing fog and moisture build-up. Plush removable soft ear pads and SHREDry inner lining keep your head warm and dry. The Custom size kit means perfect fit. It’s got interchangeable SHRED goggle buckles and is Audio Integration Compatible (optional/aftermarket). At its heart is CE EN1077 and ASTMF2040 safety compliance, which means you’re kept as safe as possible.
SHREDVent uses a system of helmet vents to pull warm and moist air out of the goggles and exhaust it out of the helmet to prevent fogging.
SHREDry is a breathable, temperature controlling, anti-odor and anti-static inner lining so you will stay dry, comfortable and warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
Unique feature of SHRED hard shell helmets, allows to choose from a kit (sold separately) of bright and colorful goggle retainers to match goggles and outfit.
The soft ear pads are ready to host an after market compatible audio system.
This helmet features Slytech’s latest impact protection innovation with its SLYTECH 2ND SKiN XT Foam Technology. A layer of SLYTECH 2ND SKiN XT is added to provide a progressive shock absorber that intelligently adapts to the different forces and speeds of a crash. The shock absorption increases proportionally to the strength of the impact and to protect completely at any impact level. In addition, the 2ND SKiN XT recovers naturally from the impact and allows for better protection in a series of impacts.
EN 1077B is a European Standard for Helmets for Alpine Skiers and Snowboarders. Certified EN 1077B helmets pass the same severe shock absorbing and penetration tests, retention system performance, field of vision and durability as the EN 1077A. The only difference is a smaller coverage: the norm allows soft ear pads, for maximum comfort.
ASTM F2040 is the American National Standard for Helmets Used for Recreational Snow Sports. Certified ASTM F2040 helmets pass very severe dynamic strenght retention, roll-off (for positional stability), and impact tests with three different anvils. At low, high, and room temperature.
How to Fit Your Shred Helmet
Measure your head with a Shred tape at a retail store to determine your size range. Remember though: the best way to choose your helmet is to try it on!
To check if you found the correct size, adjust the retention system properly. You will know the helmet is the right size when it sits snuggly and does not come off when quickly rotating the head forward and backward, as well as side to side.
If you do not have access to helmet for fitting, measure your head with a Shred tape measure by placing it around your head and horizontally over your eyebrows. Feel free to ask the retailers to help you out in the process. They will help you choose the right size.
But there is another way. Download and print out the following sizing tool and follow the instructions on how to properly measure your head:
For European printer paper format (A4): DOWNLOAD HERE
For USA printer paper format (letter): DOWNLOAD HERE
A size 58 helmet corresponds to 58cm circumferance, a size 61 is 61cm, etc….
Remember that every head is different, so the tape measurement may not be as accurate as actually trying the helmet on. The shape of your head is not a perfect circle!
We cannot stress this enough: choose the right helmet size and wear it properly!!!
