Yeah boy! Patrick Deneen won the World Cup Season Opener in Ruka, Finland thereby gaining the world’s #1 spot in freestyle moguls.

As the fireworks blasted over his head Patrick was awarded the Yellow Jersey signifying  that he has gained the #1 ranking in world cup freestyle skiing.  The course at Ruka was the home of the 2005 World Championships Steep, Long, and as hard as a rock.

“I left home three weeks ago and took the two day trip to Ruka, Finland and found a great training course” Deneen said. “The course is steep and hard as a rock just the way I like it” Patrick continued.

Patrick drew tenth in the preliminaries and laid down a fast solid run placing him fourth after the preliminaries. “I knew I could take at least a second off my time in the finals so I felt very comfortable sitting in fourth as I could put pressure on the top three” Deneen commented.

When it became Deneen’s time to lay down his run in the finals he amped up the speed taking over a second off of his time winning the time portion of the event and crushing the field in turn scores.

“It’s great to start the season with a win, now off to France for more training and competition”.
